a clean slate

Other than getting back into my workout routine, I should also prioritize nutrition. Be more conscious about the stuff I put in my body. I feel like these past few months I have been indulging too much or just not eating as well as I know I can, especially when traveling for work. It may sound like a cliché but the end of the year is always a good time to reflect and make plans for the new one. A clean slate. To be honest with ourselves and make plans to better ourselves.

@maique Oh yeah, I can definitely see that. Luna was scared every time the bad guy was on screen but she scares easily with almost anything lol.

@maique We kind of enjoyed it. My girls loved it but I think more the music than the movie itself. They ask for the soundtrack every morning on the way to grandma's house and they sing their lungs out to every song 😅. The bad guy we found it to be very bad and a jerk, the which we haven't seen villains' like this in Disney movies in a while, I remember we said we got Scar vibes on this guy.

🍿 Rebel Moon - Part One: A Child of Fire (2023) ‘Rebel Moon’ is “cinematic poetry.” – Armond White (Snyder’s super fan and film critic) I had been waiting for this movie to come out for a while and all I knew about it was that it was a Netflix film directed by Zack Snyder. The film finally came out and I didn’t get a chance to watch it right away. Unfortunately, the internet makes noise and it was getting poor reviews which makes me even more curious. According to the Wikipedias this film was inspired by the works of Akira Kurosawa, and the Star Wars film. I can definitely see the Star Wars films inspiration here but that’s not what I’m here for, those things are overrated. The AKIRA KUROSAWA part, now we’re talking. And when I learned this fact about the KUROSAWA-inspired work it all made sense then. This movie is basically 🍿 Seven Samurai (1954) but in a sci-fi world. This makes me think more of the anime TV show Samurai 7 (2004), it’s that show but in a very different setting. I enjoyed the heck out of this movie but I am a Snyder fan, thus, I might be a little biased. It is not a perfect movie because there aren’t perfect movies, I mean, art is subjective. Ain’t it? I do agree with this Armand guy, it is cinematic poetry.

A game I am playing, sort of.

Wo Long Fallen Dynasty on the PlayStation 5. I purchased this game when it first launched. I mean, Dynasty Warriors meets Ninja Guiden. Rather than a mosuo style game, is an action game. My mistake? Thinking it would be an easy game. Wo Long, much like games in the same vein as Nioh or Elden Ring, is beautiful and complex and offers a punishing combat system to satisfy your masochistic desires if you have a thing for souls-lome games, which I suck at! I remember starting the game and rage-quitting it after I could not defeat the first boss. Today, I decided to give it another go. I played through the introductory part of it and made it to the first boss. Not before dying in the process like 4 times. Again, I’ve made it to the boss, and as expected, he kills me on the first try. Both humiliated and defeated, I tried again. And it was then, after using all my potions and almost to the brink of death, my enemy met his demise! I was victorious, my confidence came back to me. And it was then… A cutscene, the damn guy swallows some kind of gem, motherfucker powers up, and grows a huge arm. WTF!!!???? SERIOUSLY!!!!! Why do they do this? Now I’m about to have a second battle with this dude and no potions. As expected, I died, almost immediately. To be honest, I got so upset by this that I didn’t even try. What I was hoping though is that at least I would “respawn” at the end of the first part of the fight. Nope, Fuck You, Gabz, you get to respawn at your latest resting point, like in any souls-like game. I should be honest with myself and just give up on these games, as much as I love them.

The more I see about the Persona 3 remake, the more I want to stop playing the Switch port. But, man, I’m about 30 hours in 😅

A game I've been playing.

Persona 3 Portable on The Nintendo Switch. Shortly after transferring to Gekkoukan High School, the protagonist encounters the “Dark Hour.” Unfamiliar stillness swallows the city, people turn into eerie coffins, and otherworldly monsters called Shadows swarm. When they are attacked by one of these Shadows and all hope seems lost, the power of the heart, their Persona is awakened. Back in the day, around ‘07-‘08 I remember playing, well, more like trying to play, this game on the PlayStation 2. At the time it was just Persona 3, and part of the _Megami Tensei franchise. I remember I found it boring and blah! I did try, though. I really wanted to get into the Shin Megami Tensei games but they never clicked with me at the time. Fast forward to 2023, I am revisiting the same-ish game. This is Persona 3 Portable, however, that was released for the PlayStation Portable (PSP) back in 2009. And this one is the Nintendo Switch port of the PSP version. One notable feature of “Persona 3 Portable” is the option to choose the gender of the protagonist, providing a different perspective on the story. The game has a very engaging narrative, character development, and some social simulation elements (yes, Marley made fun of me for playing a game about “school”) along with dungeon-crawling gameplay. Like many of the games in this franchise, you’ll be navigating daily life in a calendar-based system, managing relationships, while also venturing into Tartarus, a mysterious tower. What makes this game so addictive to me is, imagine Pokémon but with demons. As you make your way through the tower, you collect these cards with Personas (the Pokémons). Though they do learn moves as they level up they don’t necessarily evolve but you can fuse personas to create other more powerful ones. I am currently about 20 hours into the game, and I haven’t gotten bored or sick of it. I am playing on the casual difficulty setting so I’m not about the challenge, as these games tend to be a little challenging. I’m having a blast! The funny thing is, Persona 3 Reload is coming out on February 2024 which is a modern remake. So, I can either stop now or replay it again in a few months.

I might be a unique case since most of my daily browsing happens on a windows computer so I depend a lot of chrome browser extensions to add things to whichever device in using. Bookmarks, Read-it-later and stuff.

A while ago, I posted about my read-it-later and bookmark struggles. Well, today, I am at it again, ish. Alt + S, is the new thing. For the past month or so I have been bouncing between Omnivore and Instapaper. For whatever reason Omnivore doesn’t click for me and Instapaper, although is my favorite, visually, it’s another subscription. And subscriptions are something I am trying to be more mindful of these days. Well, enter GoodLinks! I had forgotten I owned this app and that I somewhat liked it. So I am giving it another go. I installed Chrome’s extension of the app and saving things to it is super-easy, Alt + S and done! I was able to import all my bookmarks/articles from Instapaper at least and I cleaned pretty much all my Omnivore stuff. So far so good. Now, what about long-term preservation? I can save everything I want but eventually one of those links may or will break. This makes me think of services like Pinboard or even Micro.blogs bookmarks, that they save a permanent copy of the page or something like that. But then again, why have a permanent record of something I might never ever come back to? The only reason I am probably not all into MB’s Bookmark service is because there’s no easy way to add bookmarks to it, outside of MB itself, that I know of.

During an interview with Empire, director Jeff Rowe revealed he has big plans for the Turtles’ most iconic nemesis. “The one thing I can say without spoiling anything is, [Shredder] needs to be 100 times scarier than Superfly – who is a credible villain, he’s dangerous, he’s strong, he seems like he could mess the Turtles up,” he said. “Shredder needs to be that, just significantly more.” As it should be! I have always seen The Shredder as a menacing villain. He should give the turtles hell.

Today, like around this time of year every year, I had my end-of-year performance review. And although I knew in my heart that I had done well, I still self-evaluated myself in the worst way. Everything in my head. This year was challenging, in November of last year, the QC technical expert had retired so I had to step up, big time! I had to go from a support role into “doing the thing”. Once my manager was hired it was not like it became any easier, for either of us. Long review short, I got an “I am proud of you and the work you’ve done and the challenges you have taken on this year”. And two coaching advice, one, is to know when to ask for help. Well yeah, when I commit, I go and forget I may need help sometimes and get overwhelmed in the process. Two, time management, in the sense that sometimes I’m working on something and get distracted when people ask for something via email, mainly because I think it’ll be a quick thing. Famous last words. Anyway, I’m happy with my review and looking forward to getting better at what I do and then some!

I’ve been sick since yesterday, making last night’s sleep very shitty. At least I know it’s not Covid but last time I was this sick, Covid was it. 🫠🫠

Naples, fall 2023.

Another Naples Florida work trip. This is for the fall 2023 season. Which started Sunday the 10th, at 4:00 am (🫠). First flight, BOI to MSP There (at MSP) I was introduced to what an espresso martini is, never have I ever had one. After an almost 5 hour overlay – and a beer or two – our next destination was Fort Myers, FL, MSP to RSW. This one is probably the longest flight of the two, I little over 3 hours. It kind of sucks. We also took off late as they needed to deice the plane before taking off. Thus, we arrived much later than planned and famished. Very uneventful evening after that, quick dinner, hotel check-in, and sleep! Monday Field day, cucurbits evaluation (squash, and watermelon) The day started great, we may or may not have gotten stuck in the sand with our truck, though (🫠). Otherwise, a perfect fall Florida day in the field. Spot the off-type there (😉) Truly, the weather was perfect! After a long first day, it was time to wind down but also meet up with other colleagues for supper. Not before doing some computer work as well. We found this little cute bar in Downtown Naples,Old Naples Pub, Naples It was small and cozy but very inviting. And of course, they had gator bites for appetizers so, I mean, when in Florida… 🐊 Then we head out for dinner, at this place called,The Dock, Naples It was a really nice spot and by the dock or marina. We were the only people sitting outside with the view of the marina and Christmas decorations in the distance. The food was great, obviously mostly seafood (no pictures, however). I remember having some kind of pasta with lobster and probably the best cornbread I’ve ever had in my life. It was more cakey than bready. Tuesday, day two. Sweetcorn evaluation. Nothing too exciting, we only had less than 1K plants to evaluate, finding two off-types. It took us a little over 10 minutes. Once the data was collected, we decided to go out to do some computer work over brunch. We found this little place called, The Rooster, Naples The Rooster It is a very southern cuisine style. I was tempted by the chicken and waffles but that I can find almost anywhere. So I went for some Jumbo Lump Crab Cake Benne with Poached Eggs & Citrus Hollandaise. And a Hummingbird Cake to finish it off. So good! Then we needed a space to do some more real computer work. So we found a spot at the, Ridgway Bar & Grill, Naples. Here was pretty much at the heart of downtown Naples. The people here were weird, well, pretentious Floridians or perhaps not even Floridians and more like snowbirds. Every conversation we overheard was about expensive cars, boats, and typical entitled people like complaints. It was an interesting perspective to witness. Tuesday evening. A colleague from Woodland, happened to also be in town on a different project, so we agreed to meet up for dinner at the Divieto Ristorante, Aventura. An Italian restaurant. I had a hard time making up some of the stuff on the menu unless I read the description. And omg, they had a tomahawk steak. A purchase that my boss advised against it (😅). We suggested ordering it, eating it between all of us, and splitting the check (😁). The worst part about this restaurant is, they have no beer! And their wine list was so massive, I had no idea what to go for. Eventually, I went with the server’s recommendation which was a DiNotte Mezzacorona Red blend. It was pretty good and I thought it’d be a very expensive wine. I looked it up, turns out, that it is about a 10.00 USD bottle of wine u less I found the wrong thing. Anyway, we had some CARPACCIO DI MANZO as an appetizer, Thin slices of beef topped with fresh mushrooms, arugula, and shaved parmesan cheese, drizzled with white truffle oil. Served with focaccia bread. The entree, a DIVIETO SPECIAL STEAK Enjoy this house specialty. Grilled to perfection skirt steak in our signature mushroom-Madeira wine sauce. Served with mashed potatoes. All pretty tasty and spendy. After some rock paper scissors to who would pay for dinner, in the end, there was no real winner (I mean I won, however) since we ended up spilling the bill anyway. Turns out, Italian restaurants can be pretty expensive. And that was pretty much the trip. It was full of good food, good times with colleagues, and good weather. I’ve noticed that many people on Glass treat it almost as a photojournalism tool/place. They actually take the time to write something rather than just a quick description of the photo or as lazy as just an emoji, as I do (😜). My journal is my blog but perhaps I could put some effort into doing more than just a word or an emoji on my Glass account.

Well, regarding last night’s blackout or power outage. Turns out, someone in a pickup truck decided to ram over the light post and yeah, took the power out. Blackout!

We are experiencing a blackout, the girls are all freaked out about it. They don’t have much experience with this type of situation, whilst Annie and I are super used to this, from back home. The girls won’t let go of their snuggle buddies and they’re super-worried we won’t get the power back. That said, blackouts rarely ever happen in this area and they’re quickly handled. The whole drama is kind of funny, though. 😅

New Doc.

Today I had my first appointment with my new head doctor and it was interesting. He’s a family doctor so he also sees my kids. What was even more interesting was his reaction to all my prescribed medications. I could tell he was somewhat anti-meds. That he’s more let’s try other things before we medicate you. Especially regarding my sleeping and ADHD meds. He changed my antidepressants and asked me to stop taking my Atomoxetine and my sleeping pills. And we will be taking some different approaches, and see how it goes. So, if you all notice some random senseless Crazy-Town Banana-Pants posts in the next few days, now you know why! At least until my system levels up, if at all. 😅

Re-evaluating and letting go.

It has been a little hard to keep up with all the price increases in services and goods, especially if our paychecks stay the same. I think it is time to re-evaluate but mostly, learn to let go of things. There are many services that we might keep paying for, well, that I keep paying for, that may not be used or taken advantage of very rarely but can’t seem to let go of them because of the, what if? Probably not the smartest approach, I know. Plus those ones you signed up for the trial and forgot you are now paying for, or the ones that aren’t that crucial but now you are too invested in it, to move away from. And there are other services that I do take advantage of but there’s always that question in the back of my head. Do you really need it to be this way? The perfect example is YouTube Plus. Yes, advertisements are annoying and intrusive, but is it worth 18.00 USD a month, like, really? (I know it can be 30% cheaper, I think, if I manage my subscription directly through them but I was having issues with them not taking my money so it was easier through the AppStore) Anyways, rant over.

A game I have been playing

Assassin’s Creed Mirage on the PlayStation 5 Assassin’s Creed Mirage! Yes, we got another Assassins Creed’s game and by god, hopefully, we will keep getting them until the end of time, A-fucking-men! Anyway, Mirage, set in the ninth-century Baghdad period, just a few decades before the events of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. In this game, you play as Basin who played a critical role in the events of Assassin’s, Creed Valhalla. This game is basically his origin’s story if you will, going from street thief to apprentice to master assassin. Mirage was intended to be an Assassin’s Creed Valhalla DLC but it somehow became its own game. That said, it does feel a little like a DLC as is not as full of “features” as Valhalla or other entries. With Mirage, they’re trying to take it back to the original roots of the franchise, making it less of a massive open-world thing, and more of a contained area, so is going to feel a lot smaller compared to Valhalla or other recent AC games. So this one it’s focused more on narrative, and character development and with the stealth parkour action that we all know and love. It does have an Assassin’s Creed One feel to it, like you’re back plain as Altair, but much with a fresher look and up-to-date gameplay mechanics. I liked how they brought back the notoriety level, or at least that’s how I think of it. The more you fight out in the open the more notoriety you earn making the guards and other enemies more aware of your presence and the way to lower your notoriety is by bribing people or getting rid of wanting posts. Oh! And the throwing daggers! Such a fan of using those. Instead of hunting for armor pieces like in other AC games, you get full outfits which is nice. The one thing that I can’t stop thinking about and in some way bothers me a bit is that even though the world isn’t big, there’s a lot of “empty space” on the map, so lately, I’ve been just exploring around and finding random stuff. Makes me wonder if Ubisoft is planning for some DLCs in the future or if this just it.

Balancing the analogue and digital I do have to say that this came across at a great time, as I have been trying to find a balance between my digital and analog note-keeping. And the reason why paper, well I guess I couldn’t have said better, actually I didn’t quite have a clear reason in my head until I read this, Paper forces me to slow down, as I simply can’t write as quickly as I can type (or speak, if I’m dictating). This gives me space to think and a pause to consider my words and what I’m actually writing down. And with zero distractions or notifications, it allows me to focus on one thing at a time. The Problem

The only problem with not having been working out for “so long” and somewhat picking back where I’ve left off is that now my arm, especially close to my elbow, is angry at me. It is hard to tight-grip and lift heavy things, for now. This means I need to be more mindful with today’s workout. Also, lots of stretching and massaging. This kind of Sucks! I should have known better!

The not Everyday boring Backpack.

I have not been using my 20L Peak Design Everyday Backpack and it has been fantastic. half the room gasps in Spanish I know, I have been wearing and swearing by this backpack ever since I have been at my current job, which is a little over 4 years now. In fact, I haven’t shopped around for another backpack ever since. That and I don’t want to make spending over 250 USD for a backpack a habit. Sometime last year, in one of my Stitchfix box deliveries, I randomly received a backpack, THE NORTH FACE Vault Everyday Laptop Backpack and it is the most boring uncharacteristic, most basic backpack that you can possible imagine. Loved the color, though. Ever since I got it it sort of became my gym bag. We would occasionally use it to carry the iPads, headphones, and other stuff for the girls when going out and about, essentially a diaperless bag. On my most recent trip to Yuma, I took my boring backpack instead of my everyday one. It was a super-short trip so I took very little with me. And I gotta say, it was a delight… Let me explain. The Everyday Backpack is great, it’s got enough space for all my shit plus my camera. This backpack, however, is the first generation, it is so rigid and tough, plus, with everything I put in it, it becomes heavy and not very comfortable to carry around, at least for me. That said, I did not carry my camera with me although I could have possibly been able to. Now I am in the market for a backpack, I think, perhaps not exactly a 250 plus USD one but something simple. What will happen to the Everyday one? I don’t know, perhaps It’ll get used in a much different way, I haven’t even been carrying it to work since. I have just been carrying my essentials, a notebook, a laptop, a pen, and a few accessories or cables and that is it. I think I need to rethink my EDC system, too. So, here we are, the state of the backpack at the end of 2023, ish.

📺 Curses! (2023) We are 5 episodes in already. Luna finds it somewhat scary, but almost anything and everything is scary for her. And still, she won’t stop watching and asking for one more episode.

Well, it’s been a week, for sure, well ever since last Saturday. 🥳 Last Saturday was Luna’s 5yo birthday party 🛫 On Monday we woke up early, worked from home then headed out to the airport. 🌱 Tuesday, is field day. ✈️ After all day on the field, I get dropped off at the airport. 🛬 I arrived at midnight, slept about 3 hours. 🎂 Wednesday, was Luna’s birthday celebration at her pre-school. We had juice 🧃 and donuts 🍩. 📷 next up, downtown lunch with Luna, Marley, and Mom, street photography with Luna’s new camera (and mine until it died) 🤒 Late evening, Luna gets sick (sad trombone) 👨🏻‍⚕️💻 Thus, on Thursday and Friday I was busy working from home and being a nurse. 📺 TV shows watched 📺 Onimusha (2023) - ★★★★☆ Finished it this week, pretty cool but didn’t love it. Started: 📺 BLUE EYE SAMURAI (2023) - ★★★★★ Only two episodes in and I am loving this show. There’s good stuff in here. 📺 Monarch: Legacy of Monsters (2023) - ★★★★★ I am a sucker for anything Godzilla-related so obviously I was going to watch this. A game I have been playing

Last night I finished a game that like many indie games I buy, I usually play for a little bit until I get distracted with something else. I know, this sucks and I need to be better a this. Gunbrella Developer: doinksoft Publisher: Devolver Digital Released: Sep 13, 2023 Uncover the dark secrets of a gritty, tangled metropolis and battle diabolic villains with your trusty Gunbrella, a bulletproof brolly that doubles as a firearm. This game I would describe it as a 2D shot ‘em up platformer with some Metroidvania, and rogue-lite elements. And there’s lots of blood. At the end of the day, it is a very entertaining indie action game. The premise of the story itself is both straightforward and a little cruel. His [the protagonist] home has been set ablaze, his wife was murdered, and the killer kidnapped his newborn child. What was uncovered after that, is pretty wild, the story is pretty appealing with a lot of what-fucks? I love the pixel art, of course, this is probably the main reason I buy these games. The art, the noir-like aesthetic of it, makes this game worth checking out. The gameplay in general is pretty linear, not a lot of exploration or Metroidvanianess in the sense that you may need a thing to access another area and such. Well, there is but it’s usually a password from someone or a key. The game isn’t that long either. It took me, what? Three days to finish it. About six hours? The game has three different difficulties you can play as, obviously I played on easy. Boss fights weren’t too challenging at first, they get a little more challenging as you progress. More in the sense that you may die on your first try and then by the second you’ve figured out the patterns making things easier. I’m so glad I picked it up and stuck with it, it was really fun to play in between playing bigger titles like Assassin’s Creed Mirage which I’m currently playing too.

Believe me, I have tried to enjoy using Apple Podcasts, there are many things I love about it. It is so great for discovering new shows to listen to whereas Overcast clearly lacks in that regard, and the stuff that features are the same stuff over and over again. Ah! Biscuits! I think I just talked myself back into the Apple Podcasts app! Never mind!

Darknet Diaries - EP 139: D3F4ULT This is the story of D3f4ult from CWA. He was a hacktivist, upset with the state of the way things were, and wanted to make some changes. Changes were made. Whoa, another fascinating episode of the Darknet Diaries radio show! It’s pretty emotionally intense, or at least it is for me. It’s so interesting and as I’ve said, so fascinating that I am going through my second listen of it.

This morning, in my works' email inbox via the company’s postMaster screening address, I received an email in regards to Business Funding Offer from a babytb69 (at) hotmail.com address. It was not the Baby 69 that concerned me, but the hotmail part of it. Suspicious!

I do not know what it is but I have this urge to go out for a run, an intense workout, or something. Like my mind is running at 10,000 revs or something, All over the place and it is hard to focus. It scares me a little because I can react impulsively. I had a good night’s sleep, though. (∪.∪ )…zzz

I need to consolidate my shit better! Like many of us, I browse the wild lands of what we know as the World Wide Web and stumble upon nice links that prompt you to a nice personal website, in some cases, but you don’t have the time to read them. So what do you do? Well, what do I do? I skeem a bit and save it for, wait for it… Read-it-Later! So far so Good right? Well here is the thing. What happens when you have too many Read-it-Later buckets. Like sometimes I am just scrolling through my mastodon and find something I like and I star it. Or I am going through my RSS, usually on Feedbin’s web app, and I skeem, realize I may have no time, I press the “S” key (to star it and go into my favorites) again, to Read-It-Later. Or I just opened a link someone shared and with Instapaper’s Web extension, I added it to it. Oh! and let us not even mention Micro.Blog’s bookmark nifty system! So as you can tell I have many buckets with stuff for later, then I can’t remember where I put what, and because I am lazy I rather not bother to look around so I never read anything. I need to have one way, one singular bucket, even if it means getting out of the current system, app, or site where I found the thing in the first place. One bucket to rule them all.

The Journal app, Day One, and Me.

I have mixed feelings regarding Apple’s new Journal app on iOS 17.2 beta. When it was first announced I thought, Oh, Cool! But I think that “Oh Cool” was not meant for me but more for others. If that makes any sense. When I installed the beta and started playing with it, I kind of liked the app. I enjoyed the user interface, and its simplicity, and the post suggestions are pretty great for quick entries. Other than that, for now, that’s all there is to it, and, I am sure it’ll be fine with most users especially those who are on-and-off journalists or have never done it at all. Then again, the few things that did awesome for me were the suggestions and quick entries. Things that everybody, very quickly, made sure to point out, “Day One already does (or has) that!”, in some way. And that is very true. I have been a Day One user for over 10 years. Day one was my blogging before blogging, or rather before I dared publish. Now, my journal is my personal blog. However, ever since I have been publishing to my blog, wherever it may live, at the time, everything that is published, gets into Day One as an entry via IFTTT. So for as long as I have been publishing, I have been creating entries on Day One. As you can probably tell, however, my actual interaction with the Day One app is very minimal, or non-existent. This is why Apple’s Journal app felt novel to me, no matter how behind, features-wise, it might be compared to DayOne. Because I was actually using it, intentionally interacting with the thing. This begs the question. Why would I stop using Day One at this point in time? As of right now, I’ve got over 3,500 entries, 3,571 to be exact. In Apple’s Journal app, I have 5, so far. And this is, I bet, very much due to automation. I don’t have to think about entering something on Day One and I only go into the app if something needs fixing or adding more photos. Again, it is yet very early for the Journal’s app and who knows eventually get shortcuts and automation support. Or even better, a way to import from DayOne (or wherever you get your journaling). Then again, it’s 3,571 (3,572 once this one is published) entries, that’s one heck of an import (😅), and I am sure there are people out there with probably double the entries I have. Guess it’ll be a waiting game for now. UPDATE I was looking at the wrong numbers. Those were the numbers for media entries.

I always find it hilarious every time the girls get some toy and their naming system. Yesterday Marley and Luna got some Hatchimals and we asked if they had named them. They came out with these somewhat generic yet complicated randomly made-up names. Names that they eventually will forget and come up with some other random thing. And when you ask; a thought his name was this? They come around and go, Ah, no, I’ve decided to change it!! 😅🙃

Since losing my wallet – again – a month or so ago, the only item I made sure to quickly and promptly replaced, was my debit card. I have yet to replace my driver’s license. Super responsible of me, I know. I have been carrying my passport with me though. Today, however, was the day I left it in my car. And today, was the day that we went out for lunch, in my wife’s car, to one of our local breweries. One that we have been going for years and probably been carded once. Well, today was also the day our waitress was taking her job way too seriously (😅) and she asked for my ID, (sad trombone), I offered to show a picture of it, which for whatever reason I have, but she declined. Oh well. It’s okay, is not like their beer is that good anyway (😝).

A New blogging workflow

My blogging workflow has somewhat changed in the past month or so. Before I would compose and publish, strictly from Ulysses, at least long-form blogs with pictures — or without. Lately, I have found myself just simply using a combination of Drafts and Mimi Uploader, all from my iPhone 14 Pro more and more. So far has worked well. For example this post from a few days ago. Mimi makes it so easy to upload images in bulk and get the markdown links from it for easy use. I selected all the pictures I wanted to post, copy the links to a Drafts note. Since I am using Jason’s super-awesome GLightbox plugin I just needed to add some simple code to be able to generate a grid-of-images. A code that I have a text replacement shortcut for (😉). Then, I added some text, opened up the Drafts actions drawer, and selected this useful action which I believe was created by Craig, selected any categories if needed, and voilà! Just note that if you are looking at this blog post with pictures on your mobile device, you might not see the nice-looking grid of images, you might want to use a bigger screen 🤷🏻‍♂️. Mostly I have been posting short posts without a title but I think I will just do it all from Drafts. When I am not composing and publishing from my device, it is usually on my computer, and I just use Micro.blog’s web editor. I’m sure someone who may or may not read this will think that this is a lot of clicking around and that there’s possibly a better way to go about it. And that might be entirely true, and maybe one day I’ll change my ways again, but this way works well and for now, this is the way. Again, for now…

When things evolve.

I remember back, I don’t know 10 years ago? When I first started using Drafts. At the time it was a simple quick note-taking app, with not a whole lot of features and easy and straightforward to use. Fast forward to 2023 and oh my god, I can’t even keep up with everything it does nowadays. I still use it to this day regardless, but just to a level in which I am comfortable with, and my needs. I am, in some way, having the same feelings about services like my beloved Micro.blog. For the longest time, it was just open a page sheet in your text editor of choice, type away, and publish. Now it has evolved in such a way, with plugins, other services, fediverse integration, and many other amazing things that at times I feel like falling behind. Of course, the nerd in me wants to partake in everything but I feel like by the time I wrap my head around how to implement or do some, 3 other things pop up. That said, this is not a bad thing at all! In fact, let’s keep evolving the things we love and enjoy using. I think is just me recognizing my “limitations” and laziness, in some way. Until what point I keep partaking or just let things evolve past my level of concern.

Re-Pop

Yesterday we went to what is arguably my favorite store in town. The only bad thing about this store is that I never go intending to buy anything and the next thing I know, I have spent about 50 dollars or more (😅). Re-Pop Gifts They even had this enterprise command chair. Luna had no idea what was going on but the guy from the store and I were nerding out about it. The girls walked out with some cool stuff. And so did I. I got the coolest shirt!

Good morning fellow readers and et al! In case you haven’t noticed, it is Friday! We have made it, and you have made it. I just had black coffee, puya, as we say back home, which is rare. If you knew me, you would know I am all about my beloved café con leche or a vanilla latte. I’m basic. Today I am aiming for the bare minimum and stress-free. That said, it is not even 8:00AM, so anything can happen [😅]. Part of me just wants to take the day off and do some photography or gaming, either would do. Last night was Trunk or Treat and MArley’s school and that was a lot of fun, it was cold as balls but regardless. Today we are having a freeze warning, I should probably stay home and work from it, where warm and cozy.

Trying

I am trying my best to keep it together, but lately, there have been many times that I feel like I’m at a breaking point. I love my job and I enjoy what I do and let’s face it, I am the best at what I do [🙃]. However, in what we do, a team of two, it’s not enough, expectations are high and we are spread thin. Maybe this is part of why I’m having trouble sleeping, I think. I don’t know, I got new sleeping pills prescribed today, and l hope they’ll help. Also, we have a new intern, maybe I should start delegating and take some stuff off of my plate. That’s a conversation that my boss and I need to have.

Do you like music? Do you like podcast-radio-shows? Do you like Dave Grohl and Norah Jones? Then you need to lend your ears to this radio-show episode of Norah Jones is Playing Along. Dave Grohl and Norah hang out in Foo Fighters' studio to play through some choice songs from his epic career. Dave talks about why he decided to take the hard road after Nirvana, getting lost in the White House, and asks Norah to take him to music school. Norah and Dave duet on a song that he hasn’t played in 20 years, and he makes her day by lending his powerful drumming to one of her songs. This warm and wide-ranging episode gives an intimate peek into the mind of one of modern rock’s most beloved legends. Recorded 4/26/23. I only discovered this because I follow Dave on the instagrams there. But now that I have, I’ll probably go back and listen to other episodes. Also, I would love to hang out with Dave one day!

Anime Adaptation ‘Onimusha’ The classic game is a landmark in the gaming world, known for its gripping survival action and stunning historical backdrop of Japan’s tumultuous Warring States period. @jeffperry ugh! this is tough, I like your WP site, looks nice and clean, however, with your skills you can make your current MB theme, which is already great, it's so customizable and with your skills I make sure it'll look fantastic. I am a little biased, of course, no matter how many times I may move my blog I always comeback to what I know best and feel like have more control of and creates way less friction when publishing.

On Books.

I love a good fantasy story, like Lord of The Rings, The Wheel Of Time, etc. As long as is on visual media, like TV shows, movies, graphic novels, and even video games. But whenever I try to read (or listen to books on tape), I can’t get into them as much as I try or would love to. Not sure is maybe to a lack of imagination or attention span or just the fact that I am very visual. Or perhaps is the fact that many times these stories start slow? Compared to a thriller like The Terminal List series. Currently, I am listening to The Sword of Kaigen: A Theonite War Story by M. L. Wang I am about 3 hours or so in and the first two were, well I felt like I was forcing myself to stick to it, until it finally got more interesting, to me. Apart from anything from Neil Gaiman’s, every fantasy book (or book on tape) that I start, I end up dropping or forgetting about. Now, any of those fantasy books that I’ve ever tried and dropped, make them a motion picture show adaptation, and I’ll be all over them! That being said, it is also a shame, because there are so many good stories out there that will never make it to any visual media.

Let us talk about HEY.

Ever since HEY came out, I was very intrigued by it and it became this new thing that all the cool kids were raving about, for better or for worse, and of course, the FOMO. But because of the price tag, I resisted as much as I could, until I caved and fell in love with it. And it was the simple “gimmicks” that made it different and made email a lot more funner, as my kids would say. And by gimmicks, I mean features like Imbox, the Paper Trail, The Feed, Set Aside, and Bubble Up, all of the things that made my email much cleaner, and easier to manage. Just see what I wanted to see. Before it renewed the first time around, I canceled my membership just to find myself missing it a few months after, missing its gimmicks. At that point, I tried using Fastmail, as I read that you could basically recreate the same “gimmicks” on it. However, for whatever reason, Fastmail did not click for me, as Marley would say, I wasn’t feeling it. I endured just regular email for a while until a few months ago, and I signed up for it again. Now in the past few days, I have been debating again. Do I really need it, for the way I do email? Back to Normal

Wow! I can really tell the difference today after having a “normal” night’s sleep. I feel like my normal self, not grumpy or trolly-ish 😅🙃, I am focused and motivated. I might even bust out a workout once I get home! Also, Luna had her first school field trip yesterday and we visited The Boise Morrison-Knudsen Nature Center and I was lucky enough to join and have that connection with nature. Over 119 pictures were taken, and I am excited to go through them and share them. It feels good! I am still reaching out to my doctor, though.

Burnout?

According to my sleep tracking app, last night, I had 6 hours of sleep which is more than I would normally get these days. And yet, it doesn’t change the fact that I feel exhausted and with no energy. Something is not right. A setting in me it’s off. Part of me thinks is work-related but I used to manage work just fine, again, something isn’t right. I haven’t routinely exercised in over a month due to the lack of energy and with that, motivation and I am not happy with that. Is it some sort of burnout? Whatever it is, I don’t like it!

@podiboq You know, I am not sure. Even the free tiers gives you tons of features. I think the main premium features are more detailed sleep analysis, Audio recordings, sleep notes and trends and the "snooze lab" , it's like personalized sleep insights to improve your sleep. When I did it i think they had a sale or something

Alright, by now almost everyone should be aware of the new kid in the block, well, apparently, it isn’t that new. I am talking about Kagi Search, the privacy-oriented search engine service. Kagi is a high quality, 100% privacy-respecting search engine with results augmented by non-commercial indexes and personalized searches. Sounds cool, huh? I will be honest, I don’t know how much I care. I mean, yes I should care about privacy and give the least amount of personal data to services like Google and others, but, at this point, how much does it really matter, I often wonder. But, that’s neither here nor there. I signed up for it a couple of weeks ago. It was mentioned in a super-secret iMessage chat I hang out at. I reached my 100 search limit a few days ago, and yesterday I decided to give them my money and upgraded to the 300 searches tier. So far I like it, I feel like the results I get are “true to type” as we say in my world. Not ads-generated results bullshit. I like their “Small Web” feature, it’s kinda like Stumble Upon, and it’s a cool way to explore and find other blogs. Oh! and the mascot, I like the cute doggie they have on their page. I am sure there’s more to it than search, a cute-looking dog, and blog discovery, but that is it for now. What makes it better than something like DuckDuckGo? Honestly, I don’t know, I rarely ever used it 😅. But as someone who tries to stay away from Google services as much as possible, I don’t even have a Gmail account, I guess is worth checking it out.

Dark Mode

Today I changed my system’s settings to “dark mode”. It is nice, given that my corner of the office (which is really in a trailer) is not very illuminated so dark everything suits me nicely. The problem with this is inconsistency. Every app and every website has a different dark color scheme so it can get weird. And if a particular webpage or web app doesn’t have a dark mode (like all my work web-based tools), it is like taking a punch in the eyes. 😅

Chemically unbalanced.

The last two nights I have had very bad luck with my sleep, I mean, I have been having issues with it for months but even more so the past two nights. This morning I realized, that I may have been “missing” my ADHD medication by mistake. Both my ADHD and Gabapentin pills, look exactly the same. There is a chance that I have been taking my Gabapentin instead of the ADHD the past few days, making me chemically unbalanced 🤪, which in turn could and will mess up my sleep.

Into Day One.

Ever since I have been blogging, especially since using Micro.blog as my platform, I have had this Day One IFTTT action that every post gets logged as an entry in Day One. I have had this for years and it is nice to use it’s On This Day to recall past events and posts. However, it can be weird at times. The entries aren’t necessarily clean, they always come with random ifttt links and the blog’s URL too, so is not the cleanest format. Also, if the post had multiple images, it’d only show (or import) the very first one and omit the rest. At some point, it would seem like I managed to clean up better whatever came from gaby.micro.blog’s RSS rather than from the main blog URL (Gabz.blog), and has no random links and such but still missing photos if multiple. The good thing about this is that it all works in the background and I don’t even have to think about it or even manage it. That being said, since I have both recipes going, I do find myself now with duplicate entries, ups! Thus, I am thinking of a different approach. It would be more manual, but it is doable. If I compose my post in Ulysses, I can always export it in markdown format to Day One, all pictures and all. Pretty straightforward. The Challenge will be when I am composing from my work PC, which I often do. Well, luckily, Day One has a web app, currently in beta I believe, so it is all about copy and paste. We will see how it goes.

@mikehaynes hm, as far as I understand this script all it dies is crawl the /archive page to populate the content. Maybe some of the requirements got broken in the process but I am not as savvy 😊. Also I noticed that categories don't paginate.

📺 Genndy Tartakovsky’s Primal (2019) This Animated motion-picture show has been on my radar for a long while, I see it every time I open Max. Today I finally decided to give it a go. I have to say, it is quite something. It is savage, it is violent, and even cruel at times. There is no dialogue, everything is conveyed in “body' language, eye emotes, grunts, and roars. The art is very comic-book-like, in fact, that’s how the show feels as if you were watching an animated comic-book. Pretty cool!

The 20 minute rule

Falling asleep should be easy and natural. If you find yourself in bed trying to fall asleep for more than 15-20 minutes, then it might be a better idea to get up. Do something quiet and relaxing but not stimulating, such as reading a book, tidy up your desk or listen to some relaxing music. It will help you relax, unwind and eventually feel sleepy. Perhaps this is something I should try to keep in mind and practice.

@AndyNicolaides I have moved around a lot, I have tried almost every workflow and the one that best works for me is Ulysses/Micro.blog. Posting from the app is so easy, I can add tags if needed before publishing, and I can even edit from the app and it will update in Micro.blog. Yes, Ulysses is another sub but is worth it, to me that is. Also, if I want to upload a batch of pictures to Ulysses, I use Mimi. I upload all the pictures, copy the markdown links and paste them into Ulysses. It is the easiest way to compose and publish from my Macintosh mobile device 🙂

Got this today on my super-secret sleeping tracking app (Pillow). According to recent surveys, most of us dream in color. However, a small percentage reports that their dreams are often in black and white. Oddly enough this percentage used to be higher a few decades ago when people used to own black and white TVs. I need to Calendar more!

I know many people that run their lives, not only using some fancy task manager but also actually using, a calendar! A Calendar, what a concept, right? I have to admit that I am the most unorganized, most forgetful person ever. So you would think, that I would be taking advantages of all these amazing tools that I have at my disposal. Well, you would be surprised. I do use calendar to a certain extent, for work mainly, and many of the events in my calendar are invites, nothing I actively create for future me. For personal life? Uff! Well, 99.00% of my calendar events, are also appointments, created by someone else, my wife. And just like my work calendar, if it doesn’t have a reminder of sorts, I won’t know what’s happening until 15 minutes before it’s supposed to happen. Told ya’, I am super unorganized! I need to get better at managing my life, especially my personal ones. Kids’ activities, family events, Parent-Teacher conferences, Disney Encanto: The Sing-along Film concert! And for now, I have it easy, there’s no sports or band practice, or any extracurricular shenanigans. So I better start changing my Calendar and life managing habits, and quick! In other words, I have a super fancy calendar in all my devices, like Fantastical and I rarely look at then thing, I rarely use it our take true advantage of it. And unless Annie mentions anything, sigh, I never know what’s going on. Now, can someone please explain my girls' obsession with freaking Bluey!

Two Things.

Last night we made chicken-bacon-ranch mini wraps/soft tacos/burritos type thing, therefore, there was bacon! Of course, by the end of it, there was some leftover bacon. Bedtime came around, and we asked the girls to grab a snack before brushing their teeth. The next thing I saw was Luna snacking on a big piece of bacon while watching night-night stories. Although I went to bed relatively early and had my super-magical melatonin gummies, I still had a shitty night’s sleep. It is going to be a rough day. Looking forward to some Sea of Stars tonight.

@brian_wolf I never finished the 1st one, I basically rage quit it lol, The second one I am approaching it with a little more patience , probably should go back to first and do the same and try to finish it. Although, I find the second more fun, as you have more weapon choices. I am a little disappointed by the physical's release though, the first came with a poster and stickers I think, the second was more like a first party Nintendo game, just a cartridge.

Games I have been playing.

I have been playing various games lately, two of them on the same system but one of them serves as a pallet cleanser to the other. Final Fantasy XVI on the PlayStation 5 Yup, they are still making these and they will continue to do so until the end of times, Amen! This is one of those series of games that even if you have never played any of them, you are aware of it. I have never been married to this series like most hardcore, purist fans but I have played my share of games. This one in particular got my attention and I think it’s got to do a lot with the fighting style. I have just recently picked it up because it was on sale, and. I am glad I did because I am having fun with it. We all know that the FF series has been shifting further away from its turn-based RPG roots, which I am okay with. Final Fantasy 16’s combat is a straight-up action game, I even dare say that the combat has a Devil May Cry feel to it. It is fast, extremely reflex-driven, and super-fun! With air combos, jump cancels, and a huge arsenal of mighty spells and abilities. The story so far has been very intriguing, only about 4 hours in so far. It does have a Game of Thrones feel to it but better, GoT is crap! One character that stood out, the voice acting I mean, was Cid’s. For the first hour it was bothering me, “I know that voice, I know this voice”. Turns out it is Ralph Ineson (he is also in the movie THE WITCH from 2015 which if you haven’t watched It it yet, do yourself a favor, stop reading this and go watch It it), and if you have played Diablo IV, that is the voice of Lorath. Sea of Stars on the Nintendo Switch. Okay, this one I have been waiting for since it was announced. I am a sucker for good old pixel art, so I was into this game right away. It’s got obvious similarities with classics like Chrono Trigger, so very strong nostalgia vibes here. Full of combat encounters and puzzles that fill up the space between larger story moments and boss battles. Everything about Sea of Stars’ look and feel is nice clean, and easy to follow. This game definitely evokes the best parts of the ‘90s RPG era. This game has a demo and it is available on GamePass. But I prefer to play this on my OLED Switch, handheld, and it looks gorgeous! Blasphemous 2 on the Nintendo Switch I am a huge fan of this franchise, the team, the art, the gore, the creepiness, all about this game. What I am not a fan of, is how difficult and challenging it is. Still, I own both games in both digital and physical forms, well the second one gets here Tuesday. Blasphemous 2 is a 2D Souls-like, both revolting and gorgeous, with all-too-detailed death animations, which I love! Though I never finished the first one, yup I rage quit it, don’t judge, this one continues the violent trials of The Penitent One, the last living member of an order that’s trying to put an end to the abominations born from a godlike phenomenon known as The Miracle and that’s all I know as far as the story. You’ll hack and slash your way through some absolutely beautiful – and discomforting – 2D hallways filled with horrific monsters and random wild-looking “scenes”. Although is “hack and slash”, it is not just as easy. You will have to learn your enemies' patterns in order to effectively move and attack. In this game, unlike the first, you can choose from three different styles/weapons, a one-handed sword, a two-handed sword, and a big mace-looking thing. Upgrading your character’s weapons and health and magic meters, while collecting various buffs and spells makes for a fantastic climb to unparalleled power, and by the end feel like the ultimate unholy warrior. So far I have died once but that’s because I have barely touched the surface of this game. I have to have patience with this one, but so far, I have not been discouraged. When I am not playing FF, I am definitely on my switch. And even though I have dabbled between Blasphemous and Sea of Stars on the same system, I think I will try to finish Sea of Stars first and then continue onto Blasphemous 2, until I rage quit it, lol. Or like I have said, use one as a palette cleanser to the other but Sea of Star is definitely the longest game of the two.

Who else but the Justice League could hope to intervene in a titanic showdown between Godzilla and King Kong? Jim Lee’s cover art even suggests we’ll get to see Batman suit up in a gigantic armored mech and punch these massive beasts right in the face. This series has a strong hook, and we have faith in writer Brian Buccellato and artist Christian Duce to make the most of it. IGN Say What? I am so into this!

Part of me just wants to leave work and nap. I am truly struggling and it is hard to concentrate on anything. Too many nights, and it is starting to mess me up mentally, and physically. Today we visited a new spot for a late lunch with the family, El Cafetal Colombian Food. It was delicious! I had the Bandeja paisana! If you love something, try to get a local copy and store it on a hard drive you control.  This makes me think of Fatman on Batman by Kevin Smith. I stopped listening to the podcast or watching the videos years ago. Before it used to be an interview-like podcast, with comic book creators, and now is more like a commentary/review show, or at least the last time I tried to listen. It is not even called Fatman on Batman anymore, now it's called Fatman Beyond. I remember I discovered it through Greg Capullo, one of my favorite comic artists, in and old social platform called Twitter. He told his story about how he came to work for Marvel, Todd Mcfarlane on Spawn, and then DC, and it was fascinating. Other great interviews were with the late Neal Adams on how he came to fight for the rights of creators and how the creators of Superman, finally got the credit they deserved. I used to listen to these episodes over and over because they fascinated me. All those episodes are now gone! At least from the main RSS feed, last time I checked. I am sure if I look hard I might find them somewhere. Sad, I wish I had somehow seen it coming and made a local backup of them somehow.

Turkish get-up

Servay says! Well, the internet says! The Turkish get-up is a comprehensive exercise that works almost every muscle in your body, and it also improves your balance, stability, mobility, coordination, cardiovascular endurance, and mental focus. I haven’t done or tried to do a Turkish get-up in years. I think in part, I am afraid of them, or was. It can be a lot to handle especially if, like me, you haven’t practiced them in a while. They used to be my favorite thing to do, though, back in the day. I mean, this was just a warm-up exercise. My plan today is to work on my form and see where I stand, strength-wise, and go from there.

Bend, Beer, tiny tattoos, Rivians, and tomatoes

Friday, August 11th, around noon, we head out to Bend, Oregon. This trip, had two intentions, the most important being, meeting up with the Burks. Why Bend, Oregon? Neither party has ever been. Thus, it was the perfect excuse for the trip. After almost five hours of non-stop driving, well, we did stop in Burns for gas and pee-stop. Our first stop was, Crux Fermentation Project, because we needed food, duh! 😜 Next morning, breakfast at the Bends. It was Smokey, due to neighboring fires, of course, and yet it was a good morning out. An hour or two after breakfast. A nice yellow thing shows up! And so, our adventure begins. There was some beer and crafting at Bend Brewing. Then some mermaid hunting. The Mermaid Then, it was another brewery plus, tiny tattoos session by Marley. More crafting courtesy of Valerie After all that fun beering, walking, and crafting, there was one stop that _had_to be done. The last, and only, Blockbuster in the United States of America! After our visit to the last and only Blockbuster in existence, a nice little bbq at the Airbnb that was not documented in photos was had. There was good local Bend beer, steaks, chicken, salad, and then some. Once our friends were fed and somewhat rested from all their driving, they left. And we stayed one last night before driving back to the 208s. So, what is next for the wonderboy (yours truly)? After driving almost five hours, again, we drive not to our home, but straight to the airport! Our wonderboy is now heading to Sacramento, California! For work. Field grow outs, tomatoes. Also, we had the chance to see how watermelon seed production gets done. Something I hadn’t experienced before. There was also good local beer to be had, of course. And there was that. Four states in less than 24 hours. I mean, on a Sunday. I want to thank Jason and Valerie for joining us in Bend. We had a good time. In fact, in you’d as Marley what her favorite part of the trip was, it was riding in Jason’s car 😅, and second, hunting for mermaids. We definitely want to be back in Bend, but much longer. There’s so much to enjoy and explore.

Sleeping and workouts.

According to “The Oracle”, I slept 7 hours last night. That is a new record! Let us see how the rest of the week shapes up. Last week due to some work travel and Marley starting school again, it kind of screwed up my workout routine, so very little was accomplished or done. The plan for this week is to come back in full force. My only debate is if I want to set up my new workout routine in the mornings, right after dinner, or at night after the girls go to bed. I must admit, going to the gym right after work, was probably the best time.

Before returning home from California, I picked up Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion, it was on sale. I have played about three hours of it so far. And I am at the point in wish I’m asking myself; why am I even playing this? 😅

Uncomfortable

Today’s workout was pretty awkward. When it comes to “conventional” training, I feel like I don’t know what I’m doing. I have been training using kettlebells or unconventional training for so long that I feel like I’ve lost that knowledge in some way. Today was leg day (the best day) and I had decided to do some squats with the barbell like most people do. It felt so weird, as if I never had my form right. On top of that, the two lady trainers were exactly where I was and it made me feel super uncomfortable and awkward 😅. I just wanted to finish my rounds and move on to the room I’d normally workout in, away from everyone else. Once I was in that room with a heavy kettlebell, I was home, I was safe. I don’t know, it is a weird feeling.

Zips, pools, and pedicures

This weekend, was a good weekend. Yesterday Annie went out with her friends for some zip lining in Tamarack, here in the Idahos. Meanwhile, I spent the afternoon with the girls, Annie’s brother, his wife, and their kid, at the water park and later at the community’s pool. Today, after picking up around the house, we all went for pedicures. It only took 40 years for me to get my first one. Now we are closing this fine weekend with some pizza, and beer, beer for the adults only that is.

Exhaustion.

It has been now about three nights of less than 4 hours of sleep, 3 hours max. Why? The fuck I know (laughs). I haven’t changed anything, and still taking my sleeping pills, and yet, for whatever reason, can’t seem to have a good night’s rest. The only times I can sleep well is if I drink, and, I am sure as hell, that I don’t want to rely on the drinking. My humor seems fine though, I am chirpy and as focused, and alert as I can muster. Maybe a little snarky every now and then but that’s normal in my personality I think. It is messing up my workout routine, though. I am yet to skip any days, well except for Monday, but no matter how exhausted I am feeling, I have managed to go to the gym and do my sesh the past two days. But I struggled and today, it won’t be any different. Silly Gabz, you need to listen to your body and get some rest. Yes, perhaps but I can’t help it at this point, I just go and do things. Perhaps I need to try something different. I like sleeping, I’ve just forgotten how to I guess.

Well, we have made it to another Friday, cheers! I am exhausted, I don’t know why but I have not been able to sleep for the past three nights. I have a headache and my eyes feel heavy. Pero no la podemos dejar caer. Maybe last night I was thinking too much about yesterday, although, I don’t think it was because of it exactly. My sleeping pills failed me, once again. Speaking of yesterday. I had a really good 1-on-1 with my manager today, very encouraging. Things happen slowly here and I don’t foresee a change in the short term, but we are both on the same page and there is a plan or goal. I’ll take the small wins however it comes.

I love my job like I truly do and I’m happy to do the things I do, no matter how overwhelming they might seem at times. Today we had a meeting, something about core competencies for each level. Technician, Analyst, I think then it’s Technical Expert and Manager level. When looking at that slide and all the different buckets and their competencies within those buckets, I came to a realization. I have more buckets than what my current level is described as. My current position is, on paper, at a technical level, when in reality, I match all the Analyst’s buckets. I have been doing what would seem like a 60K job for 47K. These are made-up numbers but you get the idea. In a way felt like a slap in the face that I wasn’t looking to get. But probably a necessary one. Why go above and beyond when I am getting the bare minimum? I don’t want to sound ungrateful or something but can’t help to be somewhat bothered by it. Not sure what will happen from here, definitely will have a talk with my manager on our next 1-on-1 (which is tomorrow). And for sure, I don’t want to become a little bitter, or discouraged, and lower my standards in the work I do and the passion I have for it.

When honesty bites you.

A few months ago, our company changed timekeeping systems, to a much “intuitive and reliable” one. Well, little did we know. The thing is confusing to use, things are tricky and don’t make sense. Even the managers don’t know what to do in some circumstances. Heck, you can’t even enter days off ahead of time you either enter your time off on the day of or after the fact. A few weeks ago, my mom was here, visiting the girls, and I took three days off. When I got back I tried to enter my time in the same way I have done before with our previous system. Well, first, is not like I could change the pre-populated time, to vacation time. Then I was told, to leave it and enter a “new shift” with my vacation time and vacation code, and the system would automatically update, somehow. A week later, payday comes around. I got asked if I got a raise. I was confused for a minute, then, I realized what had happened. The system did don’t correct itself, I got paid for 24 hours of overtime… Then, a debate started in my head. Do I say something? Should I not? Is not my mistake. Or is it? Now I’m conflicted, and I knew this would not let me sleep. So that afternoon, I talked to my manager and explained the situation. I was praised for my honesty and for coming forward and saying something. Neither I nor my manager knew exactly how to go about it. Eventually, he talked to his manager who in turn asked him to reach out to HR. Long story short, my next paycheck will be short. Sometimes being honest sucks 😜

Commuting tales.

Today, on this beautiful morning, the sun was out, the birds were chirping and I was ready to head out to the wilderness that is life and work. I’ve got my backpack, my lunch, my coffee, and loud music – I’m ready. I take my usual route, for when I am not taking the girls to grandma’s, and head out to the freeway. Normal traffic, nothing out of the ordinary. When I noticed that the traffic in the opposite direction was stalling more than normal. I said, hm! Then I saw that a car or two were “stopped” obstructing the traffic and there were some people sort of dealing whit the situation, cops, an ambulance, and whatnot. Then I saw it, a red car, a mini SUV, upside down, doors wide opened, yikes! Slow down, pay attention, and be safe out there, people! Oh, and wear your seatbelts.

Although today’s workout was very targeted and intentional, in a way, it, well, I wasn’t mentally there. I am exhausted, didn’t sleep well last night so I probably should have not gone and rested. That said, it was still a decent one.

How I have been RSSing.

I had a realization, regarding how I deal with my RSS feed these days. I do not (gosh the word that comes to mind is consume and I hate that “term”) consume or read on any of my devices, like my iPhone, or iPad, I use Feedbin’s website, on my computer. Whenever I have a few minutes to spare I skeem through it and favorite, or star, things that I may or may not come back to later. Or, I open the site, hit alt + O, and save it to Omnivore. Weird?

The struggles

Although Marley is still an eager little beaver about her braces, she’s also facing the inconvenience of them. She complains that her teeth hurt, which is most expected, they will be sore for a few dates for sure. The most difficult time is night time, gotta give her some ibuprofen beforehand and wait until, well, the pain is tolerable enough for her to settle down and fall asleep. Last night was a little bit of a struggle and tonight, well, so far it’s shaping up to be the same. So I am here typing while she plays on her Switch waiting for the ibuprofen to do its thing. Well, I know better, she’s also stalling but it’s relatively early so I’m okay with it. However, I could use the sleep. Last night was a struggle, also for me, in a way. It wasn’t until 2:00 am ish that I finally settled, just to have nightmares all morning long. Today, was a real struggle at work. Not only because I was sleep deprived but it was a really busy day, way too many fires to put out. Also, I ran out of one of my meds and didn’t have time to pick them up yesterday so today I was both sleep deprived and chemically unbalanced. I still managed to make it happen, still some fires left but that’s tomorrow’s Gaby’s problem. I did manage to go to the gym after work though, I was happy about that, it did me good, mentally. Anyways, let us hope for a good night’s sleep and a better, more swimmingly day tomorrow.

Darknet Diaries EP 135: THE D.R. INCIDENT Omar Avilez worked in the CSIRT of the Dominican Republic when a major cybersecurity incident erupted. Omar walks us through what happened and the incident response procedures that he went through Of course, like almost every episode of this show, this was a good one, at least to me. And I agree, it is still scary that in this day and age, we are still so vulnerable to cyberattacks and especially at this scale. It also reminded me that not long ago, in 2022, Puerto Rico also got hacked by this type of attack. And in case you’ve forgotten your geography, PR and DR are neighboring islands. I don’t remember if any other agencies or systems were hacked at all. I just remember that the system known as AutoExpreso, which controls the electronic toll collection, was hacked. PuertoRicans being PuertoRicans, they were not mad about it, I mean, the government sure was, but not the public. The only thing the public was mad about was why the hackers did not delete all the fines and debts. 🤣

I can hear my elbow snap, every time I stretch my arm. I don’t like it. Getting old kind of sucks at times.

 this post was going to be a Toot I force-closed my apps for 3 days. It made me kinda hate my phone. by Matt Birchler I'll say up front that I don’t judge anyone who force-closes their apps. Me: I DO AND ALWAYS WILL! 😜 This seemed like a good experiment or POC, and a good write-up. I personally never force-closed my apps, In my head the devices are "smart" enough to handle this. Well, I may use to do it back in the iPhone4 days, but not anymore. I can't remember when I stopped doing it. My lady, on the other hand, still does, I see her force-closing her apps, and her brothers too, and yes, I judge them every time. Seems like a waste of time to me.

On kettlebells

If you have fooled my blog or at least know me a bit, you should know that when it comes to working out, I prefer kettlebells. And if you didn’t, well, now you know. I love kettlebell workouts, I’ve been doing them for years now, circa 2013. Why? Well, it’s not so traditional, I much prefer their versatility and “playfulness”. I find gym machines boring, plus there are some benefits to it. It helps with full-body strength. Low impact cardio Improves core strength and stability. Explosive power in the hips. (queue swings and snatches) And betters coordination and mobility. Among other things. It’s so easy to just grab a bell, and have a good full-body workout. I can do it at the gym or at home. I currently have two bells in my play box. I can just take them both, put a mat on the patio and go at it, or on the grass. Outdoor workouts are the best, in my opinion. I need more bells, I want a set of the same weight for double-handed workouts, and a very heavy one. But for now, these should work and do more than enough “damage” 😏 Keep moving!

I think a good rule would be to be allowed to leave work whenever the AirPods die. Right? Sounds reasonable.

Seven years of Oly

Yesterday, I was reminded that seven years ago, I bought my first Olympus camera, the OM-D E-M10. Why that name? Who knows. But it was as an early Father’s Day present to myself. This was back in 2016, the year when Marley was born, and she was pretty much the excuse for me to get a camera. Why this particular camera? Well, at the time I remember reading Casey Liss’s quick thoughts on it and Shawn Blanc’s thoughts about it too. And so, that was the extent of my research, really! 😅 And not only that but it was (still is) reasonably priced. And I also knew I did not want a DSLR camera. I wanted some compact but more than just a point-and-shoot. The next thing I knew, I got myself an Oly. This camera reignited my passion for photography, I must say. Eventually, I ditched the kit lens and got myself a 25mm prime lens, a 45mm, and a 17mm. Now, perhaps two years later or so, I upgraded to the Olympus OM-D E-M10 MARK III. Still having the same three lenses in my toolkit. And still have my passion for photography. Not going to lie, part of me wants to “upgrade” or move to a different system, like Fujifilm, but it is not a must, at least not yet. The system that I currently have still serves me well. A game I have been playing: Diablo IV

In the past few weeks or so I have been playing, well, a few games. One of them is The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, which I have played a couple of ours and have my thoughts about it, but not today. Another game I have been playing is Cassette Beasts on the Nintendo Switch. This one is like a whole different take on a Pokemon game-like. It is super fun, the soundtrack is great, and awesome pixel art. So far it’s a little buggy, but it is so much fun that I can get past the fact. Have more thoughts but not today. The game that’s got me knees deep on right now, is Diablo IV, currently playing on the PlayStation 5. My first experience with a Diablo game was Diablo III: Eternal Collection on Nintendo Switch. I might have tried it on the PS4 but it was on the Switch where I really got into it. And I played the heck out of that game and even more than once. So when Diablo IV was announced of course I was eager for it to come out. The pre-order date came around and pre-ordered it, whichever the mid-tier of the game was just so I could have early access and whatever else. I did get a chance to play the Beta once or twice but not enough to give me a sense of how the game was really going to be, plus I was knees-deep on ToTK. Finally, the time came around to play the full game and I was delighted with it. I felt at home, this is my kind of game, and this is the kind of game I get addicted to, just like with Diablo III. It is everything you would expect from a Diablo game, amazing cinematics, a compelling story, stellar graphics, great voice acting, character and combat customization, and of course, lots of build-crafting, and hunting for the best gear you can get. When I played Diablo III, I pretty much exclusively played as the Necromancer, I always felt overpowered with that class, and so much fun. This time around, though, I am playing (so far) as the Barbarian and so far it’s been a lot of fun with a decent amount of weapons and pretty cool skills and power-ups. I am still trying to get used to some of the menu options, especially around the “skills tree” or whatever is called, it seems a little confusing and unclear to me as to what am I getting, and I don’t know why. Of course, I am playing this game in the easiest setting, I am not here for a challenge, I am here for a good time. And yet, is not as easy as Diablo III is in its easest mode, I never died on Diablo III, on D4 though, yes I have died a few times. It can get a little hairy when many baddies band together and you are not paying attention to what you’re doing. I am sure there’s more to this game from what I have experienced so far, there is so much more to explore and discover. I hate (Love) that there is a real money item store, that’s how they get me, by getting me to spend money in order to get that shiny armor or horse, or whatever. This game will be hard to put down, I need to keep track of time otherwise will continue playing for hours without end, I am loving it. Currently, there are no plans or have been officially confirmed or announced to bring Diablo 4 to the Nintendo Switch. That being said, I am sure that eventually, it will, and whenever that happens, you can be damn sure that I will be getting it on the Switch as well.

Second-class Citizen.

This morning I had a "Hol' Up A Minute" moment while driving to the site here in Naples, Florida. As many of you would know, I am from Puerto Rico, a colony, I mean, a US territory, thus, I am a US citizen or more like a second-class citizen. For 40 years I have taken for granted the fact I can travel anywhere within the US, to Puerto Rico and back without worries or having to carry a passport because technically, my driver's license should suffice. However, this morning it kind of hit me where I was, I am in fucking Florida, DeSantis's Florida. I panicked a little. I was like, "fuck, I should have brought my passport". I have listened to a couple of news lately in which fellow Puerto Ricans are being denied services or even being able to book an airplane ticket, because they did not have a passport, identifying them as US citizens (second-class citizens). There are many States in which people forget that Puerto Rico is a colony, ugh, sorry, a Territory of the United States of America. What I am trying to say is, that I have realized that I no longer feel like a legitimate American citizen in some way, given the political situation in which we find ourselves today. I fear that, if for whatever reason, I get pulled over here in Florida or anywhere in the US today, having my driver's license, might not be enough to prove my citizenship and "legitimacy". Again, this is coming from someone that was born with US citizenship. I can't even imagine how other minorities must be feeling, especially in DeSantis's Florida or in the US in general. It's scary.

Day one of field trials in Naples, done. It is miserably humid and hot. Note to self: never, ever, under any circumstances, create a trial this big again.

After 12 hours of traveling, and with only one hour and thirty minutes of sleep. We finally made it to Naples fkn Florida. A beer and a burger are a must.

Another trip to, what it would seem to be this week, the not-always-sunny Naples, Florida. The weather forecast shows thunderstorms all week long, so far. Not looking forward to the weather so much but I’ll manage. Also, unlike my previous trip, I’ll be traveling alone, the boss isn’t joining. The one thing I am very much looking forward to is all the hours I’ll be able to put on Tears of the Kingdom, bunker down in the hotel room.

I think I can say with confidence that I am back. I am back into my somewhat, being healthy, consistently working out train. It took too long, though. However, I no longer have this unmotivated feeling and have to drag myself to the gym or my backyard (outdoor workouts are my fave) to get a good workout sesh. I just do it, even if it is a short sesh (usually it would be an EMOM workout, 5 movements, 5 rounds, 25 minutes), I just move. My only fear is my upcoming work trip, I will do my best to take advantage of the hotel's "fitness center". I don't want to break my ongoing streak and momentum. Keep moving!

This is the first of a four part miniseries. Especially learning about sensitizers, I had no idea they had been around for so long and how complex they were back then, and still. On feeling behind.

On a somewhat related note to my latest post. Feeling like I don't have the bandwidth to look into these things and play like all the cool kids on my block. I feel like I am falling behind,  JASON FRIED on You can learn AI later So wait on it. Pop the pressure. Don't feel like you're falling behind. And don't drop everything to dig in. Start curious, stay curious, know what it's capable of, and, when the necessity strikes, figure it out. Until then, ignore the demands and focus on doing what you're already good at.  It almost makes me feel as if he had read my post (obviously he didn't). Again, my sentiments about feeling behind are not solely on AI/ChatGPT, there's more to it but, at least I shouldn't be ashamed about not jumping into AI/ChatGPT stuff right away. UNRELATED: Only two days left until Tears Of The Kingdom. 😬

Getting by with the bare minimum.

There used to be a time in my life when I was much more enthusiastic and invested in new technologies and technology in general. As things have become more accessible and life a lot busier, I have very little time to be on top of information as I once was, I feel like. I still try to keep an eye out, and at least be aware of things but in practice, very little. I listen to many podcasts and read (or try to) things about new technologies available, especially on devices I already own. Things like automation, shortcuts, and things you can do with focus modes and actions. Nowadays we have ChatGPT, which is something a lot of people are excited about and many developers are integrating it with their apps. All good and dandy. And then there's me here feeling like, ugh! Feeling like I don't have the bandwidth to look into these things and play like all the cool kids on my block. I feel like I am falling behind, getting behind the curve, and becoming an old man that's comfortable with the things I can do and not looking into the future as much. Perhaps if I didn't have two jobs, my joby-job, and parenting, I would have more time or motivation to look out for what's new and play. I don't feel like playing as much these days, el-oh-el. I can get by with the bare minimum 😝

A lazy writer

I remember once reading or hearing someone, might have been John Gruber, that said, that if you want to be a good writer, you need to be a good reader. Something along those lines. Well, let me tell you something about myself, I’m a lazy reader, I do not dedicate a lot of my time to reading. I follow many blogs through my RSS and I go through the feed and out of 10 articles I might actually read 2. Not because the other 8 are uninteresting, it might just be that that day, at that time, I was not that invested. Or just my ADHD that makes it hard to concentrate and calmly read something without getting distracted. I follow many good bloggers and writers and I feel like, in some way, if they are in my feed, I sort of owe it to them (and myself) to make the effort and read it. Perhaps this is what makes me a lazy writer. Perhaps it’s time to, rethink my relationship with my RSS feed and pay more attention to which things I stop and read the most and clean up my feed a bit, and stop being a lazy reader.

My favorite computer?

In this week’s Newsletter from Nash, MY FAVORITE COMPUTER, he writes about how his (SPOILER ALERT) 6th Gen, iPad Mini, has become his favorite computer; When on the move, it’s easy to take with me wherever I go (errands, trips, or coffee shops). It fits in all of my bags, pouches, and even the back pocket of my jeans. When at home, it’s great for the couch or in bed. When in my office, it’s the perfect companion device to compliment whatever I’m working on. Typing or drawing. Watching or thinking. It’s the right combination of everything someone needs in a computer. The way it stays minimal while also transforming and shape-shifting, makes it my favorite computer of all time. This had me thinking for a bit. What is my favorite computer? If you had asked me a month or so ago, my answer most likely would have been my iPad Air (whichever generation is the latest). Fast forward to today, and I think my answer is entirely different. In fact, as they say, it’s complicated, ish. I spend 90 percent of my “computer” time on my work computer, some Dell laptop provided by the company. Most of my writing happens on said computer. I browse the internet on it too or read my RSS. And yet, it is not my favorite computer. It is probably my most readily accessible device, since Im in front of it for eight hours a day, but not my favorite. The iPad, well, I rarely use it these days, it is mostly being used by one of my girls. My MacBook Pro… Well, half of the time I don’t even know where in the house is located. So, if I had to pick, it would have to be my iPhone 14 Pro, I would think. I don’t think I’ve written about it but yes, about a month ago or so I got a new Macintosh mobile device, an upgrade from an iPhone mini. Anyway, I guess lots gets done nowadays on this device over the iPad because of all that new real estate I have now compared to what I had previously with the mini. Reading, media “consumption” (I dislike that term, for whatever reason), capturing ideas, managing tasks, editing and taking pictures, some writing and publishing, best user interface over my work computer for sure, and performance. Well, all of that just to say that I guess that would make the iPhone 14 Pro my favorite computer then? What’s your favorite computer?

Today I’ve experienced the most candid show of affection and morning greetings, between human beings. This morning, like in every morning, I am driving the girls to grandmas house. We are a little late, not extremely late but ultimately, late. I’m driving, looking at the road in front of me when I see two cars coming. I see a huge mother-trucking- truck, just like most Idahoans know how, and a Volkswagen Beetle right behind it. Then I saw it, from the Volkswagen Beetle, a gentle hand of a lady, with a hard to miss big ring, and the middle finder off, in what, I assume, was, her good morning greetings to the car in front. I passed them, I looked through my rear mirror and saw two hands, coming out of the mother-trucking- truck, with middle fingers in sign of a reply. Beautiful! And all before 7:00 am. Good day everyone.

A Game I have been Playing: Scarlet Nexus.

Scarlet Nexus, on the PlayStation 5 This game was released back in 2021, by BANDAI NAMCO. This one is an Action-RPG like, Devil May Cry, Astral Chain, and Tales of Arise, in which there is some Tales fingerprint in Scarlet. I mean, you even get Alphen’s Blazing Sword and its broken mask in this game. I’ve had this game on my radar for quite some time, eventually, I forgot about it until it appeared in my Monthly Games on the PS Plus. I downloaded it right away and added it to my backlog, until this last weekend when I decided to check it out. Scarlet Nexus takes place in a futuristic/alternate reality where some people are gifted with powers of the mind like Pyrokinesis, Clairvoyance, Teleportation, and others. There are augmented-reality-like advertisements around the city, people can send messages directly to each others’ brains, and those with combat abilities are recruited in an organization called the OSF (Others Suppression Force) to battle against otherworldly creepy-looking things known as Others which some remind me to the monsters in Stranger Things, to be honest. What are the Others? I am still unclear, I am only 4 to 5 hours into the story, and there hasn’t been a lot of information, yet, to get the whole picture. In these first few hours, it has been a lot of, training, and character development. There are two playable characters in the game, Yuito, and Kasane, with both, having their own story to follow. The game is very Anime-like, in fact, my wife thought I was watching CrunchyRoll rather than playing a video game. The art is great, and the voice acting is not bad. When I first experienced the combat, I immediately got some Astral Chain vibes, and if you haven’t played this game, do yourself a favor and play it! Not sure if it’s the art style or the combat system but I felt right at home. The combat it’s pretty fluid and fast passed, think of Devil May Cry without the combo system though. For most of the missions, you will have at least one OSF member, sometimes two, with you and they can lend their powers to enhance yours during combat. This makes combat more variable and fun. There are some sweet combos to perform and awesome, very satisfying, finishers. I did not think I was gonna stick to it as at first I feel like it was way too slow, sometimes I forget RPGs do start slow. But once you get the combat down and you start doing some missions, it kinda gets hard to put down. So yeah, I am having a blast with this one.

It has been 2 days since my new-ish medication. I feel very off. At the same time, I haven’t been sleeping well at all, I get 45 mins to 5 hours max and yet I feel extremely tired. So, I don’t know if what I am feeling are the effects of the medication, lack of sleep, or all of the above.

Idaho’s weather it’s weird. This morning, when I left the house, it was frozen mix rain. I drive a few miles to my in-laws and it is deep snow. Then on my way to work and it’s just plain rain. And for the past two hours, CARROT weather is freaking out “Snow for the Hour”, Oh no wait rain"

Why I ignore Photography, ish.

There is a reason why I have stopped reading about photography or listening to anybody writing or talking about photography on blogs, podcasts, or YouTube and et al. Gear Acquisition Syndrome (G.A.S.) It is definitely an obsession, and I guess it can be applied to many other areas, especially technology. It’s like we are never happy with what we have or we become distracted by other shiny things and then try to convince ourselves why the grass is greener on the other side. Does it sound familiar? Yesterday for example I was listening to ATP, and Marco was talking about cameras. I’ll be honest, I stopped the podcast and deleted it from the queue. Otherwise, I would have gone down a rabbit hole trying to justify why I needed one of those two cameras. Scheming a plan or plot to somehow sell my current gear to buy new gear, when, in theory, my current gear serves me well. I would definitely like to “upgrade” my gear but it is something that, so far, might not be realistically attainable or plausible, or even necessary (or so I keep telling myself). For this reason, I rather ignore, hide my head in the ground or live under a rock, when it comes to this topic. Ignore the FOMO and embrace the JOMO

Unplanned Pit-stops

I have to admit that I struggle a bit with, waking up early, being all over the place in the mornings, and always rushing out the door like a headless chicken. This morning, however, I woke up on time and was somewhat and mostly organized. I took some chicken out to thaw, I did not forget Marley’s lunch or water bottle and turned on the dishwasher on my way out, and on top of that, I took the trash bin out! All of that, before 6:17 AM, perfect. Well, because either sheer bad luck or the always conspiring universe, and fucking Murphy, on the way to dropping the girls at grandmas' house, I remembered I did not take my Make-Gaby-Functional-pills. So, I dropped off the little devils and drove back to the house, the first unplanned pit stop. Still, up to that point, I was still doing “good” time. Every stop light was green for me, almost no traffic, small wins. Right? However, some idiot, which will remain unnamed, forgot to gas up the car yesterday, the second pit stop. And since I was already there, by the gas station there’s Dutch Bros, and the best part, no line, second pit stop and second small win. Yeah, I might have made it to work much later than I wanted, but I and the car were… fueled!

My sleep time last night was so miserable, that it was counted as a nap 😅🙈

The excitement

It’s spring break, and Marley is out of school for the week. So far, we don’t do anything crazy like going out of town or some luxurious vacation, but it has become a tradition that we rent a hotel room, locally in town and we spend a night or two. The girls get excited and they get to spend time at an indoor pool, and all the fun that downtown Boise has to offer. Our check-in is tomorrow after work, and the girls know it. Tonight, they can’t contain themselves in excitement. I am perhaps not too excited, I mean, I am too worried about work and I’ll be gone for two days. But I guess we, as adults, need these moments away from work. I’ll try to be excited as well, but won’t promise anything 🙈😁

For dinner tonight, we decided to go to our local Cuban restaurant, CasaBlanca Cuban Grill. It had been a while since we last time there. Still, we were greeted as if it was yesterday the last time we were there. They even recognized the girls and pointed out how much they have grown since the last time they had seen them. The girls order their usual, chicken strips, Marley opted for rice and Luna for fries. Annie had her grilled chicken breast with rice and beans (moros con cristianos) and a side of yuca. For me, well, they have this sandwich, puerco con pan (pork with bread) which I haven’t had in a long, long time, and oh boy have I forgotten how big it was. I can’t believe I used to eat one of these for lunch! It has been a long time since I’ve had the food coma I am having right now. I May just pass out on the couch.
