Devil May Cry - Nintendo Switch

I’ve been playing Devil May Cry 👿 😢 on the Nintendo switch for the past two days. Graphics don’t hold up very well but I have been having a lot of fun replying this classic game. I think I own the HD collection on the PlayStation 4 but, I rather play on the switch these days.

Underwater controls suck and so does the camera. Other than that it’s still a lot of fun!

I still remember when I first got this game on the… PlayStation 2 I think it was? I remember my friend Juan B encouraged me to do so. I have become a fan of the franchise ever since.

Scissor Seven on Netflix

Seeking to recover his memory, a scissor-wielding, hairdressing, bungling quasi-assassin stumbles into a struggle for power among feuding factions.

This show! This show It’s ridiculous, very silly and full of action! I love this kind of anime shows! It is as if One-Punch Man and Kill la Kill had a baby! Love it!

Also watching (or re-watching rather) Saint Seiya, the original from 1986! Not the new one, that one, it’s not as good.

Star Ocean First Departure R on the Nintendo Switch.

Star Ocean First Departure R It’s a remake of Star Ocean: First Departure from the PSP, which itself was a remake of the first Star Ocean for Super Nintendo. So it’s a remake of a remake? (Remakeception!!)

Anyway, I have been playing the heck out of this game for the past week or so (probably the past two weeks). And by heck I mean five hours of playing time, according to my save file. Five hours doesn’t sounds like a lot but it does feels like its been.

My only thing with this game is that, it’s a classic RPG, there’s no guidance except for some information of course through dialog with almost every NPC in the game. And if you step away from the game for a long while, good luck finding your way back into the game, since there isn’t a log system or anything that tells you what you did and what to do next. Or at least I haven’t found anything of the sorts. It reminds me of the days of Final Fantasy VII.

I am very impatient so I find myself YouTube-ing walkthroughs whenever I get stuck and find myself just wondering around like a yahoo and fighting random monsters for no reason other than xp and monies.

I have probably lost my touch with this type of game. Maybe is the reason I have never finished Breath of the Wild for example. Exploring and adventuring it’s something I lack patience for nowadays, I need the game to hold me by the hand and show me where to go and what to do next. I’ve become lazy.

Still I am enjoying the game, until I get to a point where I can’t either figure out what to do or how to beat a boss. Which at that point I will most likely rage-quit the game and damn it all out!

Pokémon Shield

I cannot say I am diehard Pokémon fan. Actually my first interaction with anything Pokémon related was the first TV Series, back in Puerto Rico, I remember. Then I remember playing Pokémon Stadium on the Nintendo 64 and much much later Pokemon Diamond and Pearl, Pearl specifically on the Nintendo DS. Then nothing else until Pokémon: Let’s Go Pikachu!.

If you fallow this mediocre blog of mine you would know that I have been traveling for work, thus I have had some time for myself. I have been playing a lot of Pokémon Shield and I love it! Yes, like any other Pokémon game it can feel a little repetitive at times but still keeping my interest in it. Like I have said before I don’t have a lot of experience with these series of games but I can definitely tell some of the improvements they have done in this game compared to some of the past games. Not gonna get into the details, this is not a review just me saying “I fucking love this game!” (😅).

Anyway, if you’re a Pokémon fan, you’ll definitely want to pick this game up and even if you’re not, its still a fun game to play.

Next on the queue it’s STAR OCEAN first departure R, which is a remake, of course.

📺 My Hero Academia

Despite being born powerless into a super-powered world, Izuku refuses to give up on his dream of becoming a hero. He enrolls himself in a prestigious hero academy with a deadly entrance exam. To make the grade, he’ll have to put in some serious study time with the mightiest hero of all.

This is an amazing show! I actually got into this show awhile back but had dropped it for a bit. Now I am resuming watching it again where I left of, Season 3. My problem is , I’m sort of scared of watching. Sounds very silly! Right (😅)? I get too invested on these shows and its characters. I always fear the worst it’s going to happen to them, it’s like “I can’t watch him/her get hurt” (🙈).

KENGAN ASHURA

Ohma Tokita enters a hidden world where corporate disputes are settled in brutal gladiator bouts. Forget the money, he just wants to fight – and win.

I love ridiculous over the top anime, this show it’s exactly that. The premise of the show it’s super simple with a bunch of oversized-exaggerated dudes fighting, they are anatomically ridiculous! Still I’m having so much fun watching this, it’s like One Punch Man meets Street Fighter.

SAINT SEIYA: Knights of the Zodiac

Netflix finally released Saint Seiya Season One this week! I have always been a fan of the original series from back in the late eighties/early nineties. On this new iteration of the series it does takes a bit to get used to the animation and the fights might not be as fluent and dramatic (violent) as the original one. Regardless, I really enjoyed it — a lot. Sad season one it’s only 6 episodes boo 👎

Remember when I said I needed a break from Assassin’s Creed Odyssey? Well, scratch that! It might be too early in the week to call it but I don’t think I’ll like anything this week as much as this.

I decided to dip my toes in The Fate of Atlantis DLC. It’s a three-part episodic story arc, I’m on arc (or episode if you will) one, Fields of Elysium. There’s so much to uncover and explore on this arc alone and again, another significantly huge map! I feel like I am playing a whole different game right now!

I am very positive I’ll be putting over a hundred hours on this game!

Assassins’s Creed Odyssey

I can’t put this game down! It has been almost a month since I’ve got it, for the Xbox One S, and just can’t, I can’t stop playing this game. The interesting thing is, that I actually own and had played this game before on another platform, the PS4. For whatever reason I really wanted it on the Xbox (maybe because of the achievements, or the fact that i had recently bought the Xbox) and it has been a very different experience so far. I have gotten into this game more than when I first played it on the PS4. (It also it glitches a lot more on the Xbox but that’s not here nor there 🤫)

On this play-through I’m exploring more and doing more of the side quests and extra missions, I am barely halfway the main storyline and I’m already at level 52 I believe. The world in this game is not just beautiful but also massive , it’s a huge world-map! And there’s so much to do and get lost in, I’m having a blast!

It has been a while since I have had this feeling of “I can’t wait to play when I get home”!! (Still I have to wait until everyone goes to sleep but you get the idea).

Overwatch

I know I’m late to the game but I just happened to pick this up today and so far, I like it a lot. There was also some “per-pressure” involved (two of my coworkers are currently playing the game) and the fact that the game was on sale so — had to!

I have only played for a couple of hours but I can already tell I’ll be spending a few hundred hours on this game, kinda like when I got into Destiny a while ago.

I started playing as Soilder: 76, in my opinion the most basic character. Basic in the sense that’s probably the best character to get familiar with the game specially you are familiar with first-person-shooters then this character will be very familiar. Obviously I don’t want to be stuck using only this character so I have been spending a some time in the training mode. This way I can experiment and get to know some of the other characters in the game, which there are about 30.

Katana ZERO

Katana Zero is a blisteringly fast slash-em-up with action that’s an absolute adrenaline rush.

This game has been under my radar since its release on the Nintendo Switch. I finally went ahead and got it and I am not disappointed. This game is a lot of fun! There’s a little bit of a learning curve and at first it might seem a little difficult but so far I haven’t lost my coolness –– or my patience.

Micro.blog (Again)

This week I had decided to give Micro.blog another visit. I have tried this service before with different approaches every time. Unfortunately always found a reason to stop using it and keep my personal blog hosted with Wordpress. I like Wordpress, it is relatively cheap, works as intended and don’t have to fiddle too much with it. What got me into Mb was it’s simplicity. Wordpress gives me too many options to fiddle with, I know that may sound strange to complain about. With too many options about customizing my site, it’s a problem for me, I can never stick to one theme or design, I am always changing it. With Micro.blog it’s more simple, there are only a few options available and that is it. Yes, you can get a little more technical and change things here and there but that’s not something that I’m neither interested or too knowledgeable about doing.

Anyway, this time around I am fully into microblogging, I am truly having fun with it. Not having to worry about too much about the format I post, it doesn’t have to be long format, it can be a simple post and I don’t feel guilty about it. Yes, it is a very different community compared to twitter and sometimes I feel like I’m having difficulty fitting in. But its definitely a good opportunity to connect with a different set of good people, we’ll see.

Spider-Man

Finally! I have started playing Spider-Man for the PlayStation 4 this week and I think I now get why the hype. At first I was a little concerned that it was going be too “I-feel-like-I’m-just-doing-chores” type of game but it’s actually not bad at all. There are a lot of missions that may seem repetitive and “chory” at times but they aren’t too annoying. The upgrade system is simple and unlocking new costumes it’s probably my favourite part (I’m a sucker for extra costumes).

I am having a blast playing this game, I highly recommend it (go get it!). Specially if you’re a Spidey fan, you gotta play it!

Octopath Traveler

Octopath reminds me a lot of old RPG games I used to play like Final Fantasy, Chrono Trigger and Children of Mana (which it isn’t that old, 2006 if I recall). The combat it’s turn-based system, very similar to some of the games previously mentioned, nothing too complicated.

So far I have gone through the stories of seven of the characters, one more to go before moving on to the next chapter. I would say I have got roughly eight to ten hours of gameplay so far and it’s been fun. It is definitely a change of pace from what I have been previously playing, like Destiny 2. Will see how far I’ll go before I either get bored or rage-quit it!

Seattle

He had a vacay! It has been a while since the last time we had a family vacation of sorts. Last weekend we took a trip to Seattle, rented an Airbnb for the entire family and stayed for 6 days. The ”premise” or reason for this trip/vacation was the Ed Sheeran’s concert at the CenturyLink Field. However, the reason I was excited about the trip wasn’t necessarily the concert, but the city! I love street photography and I thought Seattle would be the perfect scenario for me to go nuts — and it was. I’m not gonna lie, I enjoyed the concert a lot more than I thought I would, Anne-Marie opened the show and she was amazing, followed by Snow Patrol and they were awesome too and, of course, Ed Sheeran as the “main event”. I gotta say I was pretty impressed by his performance, I did enjoy him quite a lot. Also, this is the first time I have ever been in such a huge venue. Most of the concerts I have ever been in are in much smaller venues so I felt a little overwhelmed. Regardless, we had a good time and enjoyed the show.

But, like I’ve said before, to me it was all about walking the streets of Seattle and take pictures! We visited some places like The Pike Place Market, the aquarium, the space needle (of course), among other places. I don’t think I have ever taken so many pictures in my life in the span of 6 days. The “photographer” in me was in heaven. Food was also a big highlight, we went to a couple of restaurants, food stands, and whatnot. The best place I’d say we went was to Pike Place Chowder, probably the best chowder I have ever had in my entire life! The line was ridiculously long the first time we passed by during the weekend. Then during the week, we came back, the line was much more decent and then, we understood. If you like chowder as much as I do, you’ve got to go there.

I could go about the things I didn’t like but I don’t need that kind of negativity here. ;)

DESTINY 2 on Xbox One

I can tell I really like this game because after finishing the main story, even though you can still play much more after, I started a new character right away. I am not so much about completing every single mission, collect every single special gear/upgrades/weapons and whatnot. I am more in it for the ride and have fun playing. (But man I do suck at PvP lol)

I am sure I’m very late to the party but this week I have been enjoying Casey Neistat YouTube channel a lot, and his new “368” project. I have been very much enjoying the content and the production of it. Although it is true that I have been enjoying this channel (this thing) this week, that’s not it.

I got a new job this week (finally)!! Last Monday I received a long-awaited and exciting call — a job offer. It has been over two hundred and seventy days or so (not like I am counting) without a job. I am very excited (and scared) about this new opportunity/adventure. I will be flying over to Spokane Valley, WA on Monday (the 16th) for training and not only excited about the new gig but also to visit a new city. I will be taking my camera with me, and hopefully, there will be good weather for goods pictures.

Exciting stuff is happening!

Treefort Music Fest

Every year here in town we have the Treefort Music Fest. It is a fest, as the name implies and there’s music (of course) food trucks, that’d be Foodfort, and the most important thing — for me — there is beer! This would be what they call Alefort, where many local craft beer breweries get together and feature their most delicious beer. Here’s where I spend most of my visit because I love beer, obviously. So my wife and I went and got together with some fantastic beer-lover-friends and family and had a great time tasting delicious beer.

Assassin's Creed Origins: The Curse of the Pharaohs DLC

This week Ubisoft released an expansion pack for Assassin’s Creed Origins, The Curse of the Pharaohs. It is the second out of two expansion packs for the game, alongside The Hidden Ones. It was amazing and creepy at the same time when I first saw one of Pharaohs coming back from the dead, and oh man, they look cool! I am probably just a few hours in into this storyline, and I have not been yet disappointed. My only complaint is the giant scorpions appearing around in the afterlife, and I don’t like scorpions at all.

Then again, I am having so much fun with this game in general. Once I finish The Curse of the Pharaohs, I will replay the whole game again, as I do, because I can’t get enough of this game.
