  • Gabz's Log and Flaying Buses.

Today my day started at 4:30 am, not cool! Getting ready heading out to the the Boise Airport. So needless to say my commute today was very out of the ordinary. Instead of my luxurious Mitsubishi Outlander Sport, I’ll be traveling by bus , like a flying bus. ✈️🚌

So, apparently traveling on onesies it’s a thing. I wish some would have told me, I would have worn my Batman one. Also, what’s with airports and people’s attitudes, it’s weird, it’s like this place can bring the worst in in people. Oh well! Flying it’s so stressful, specially going through TSA, I feel like a I need to try too hard to appear a good individual and stay out off trouble. Every time one of them looks at me it’s like I’m a criminal or something. 😅

Again, this whole deal it’s stressful, no matter how many times I’ve flown before or how much “prepared” I am — or think I am. I am always checking my apps, looking at my boarding ticket, making sure I remember my siting group and making sure I don’t miss my sitting group, which today I did (😅). Probably because I was watching the new trailer for Black Widow. And here I was the jerk who had to ask the two nice ladies already comfortable seated, to let me through because I was sitting by the window (super embarrassing 🤦🏻‍♂️)

Anyway, I made it into the Flaying-Bus. Some obligatory airplane windows (bad) pictures.

Now I have made it to Phoenix, Arizona where I’ll be taking the last flying-bus to my final destination, Yuma. Tried to do some computer work but mobile hotspot kinda sucks. Met up with Ellen, she’s basically who’s training me on all of this grow-outs and QC shenanigans and she works remotely from Minnesota — I think. If there’s lots of snow in Minnesota then that’s the place for sure! Which conversing with her, I learned about this guy who owns 6 thousands acres of cilantro here in Yuma total. That’s bunkers!

(Side note: Even though I’ve said I was gonna use Todoist as my task-manager (🛎), I keep finding myself entering things in OmniFocus instead. Like muscle memory 🤦🏻‍♂️.)

  • I am flying out tomorrow, for work-related shenanigans. I envision a lot of Pokemon Shield (for as long as the battery lasts, that is).

  • Cascable

    Cascable:

Today is your last chance to save $10 off Cascable Pro — that’s a 33% discount — in our Black Friday sale! You can get started with Cascable for free!

If you didn’t know of the existence of this app, well, you should now. I have been using Cascable for a long time mainly to transfer RAW files from my Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark III (and the Mark I at one point) to either my iPhone or iPad using the camera’s built-in WiFi. The Olympus share app only supported transferring JPEG files only, not sure if that has changed, so Cascable was a no brainer. It’s an excellent app and can’t recommend it enough.

  • Interesting, a year ago today, we got our first snow. Coincidentally, this year, we got our first real amount of snow overnight.

  • Reasons why I go to the gym and workout

    1. To eat more donuts
    2. Drink more beer

    But mainly

    1. To survive my 3-year-old!

    Name: Bourbon County
    Style: American Imperial Stout
Brewer: Goose Island Brewing Co. - Illinois
    ABV: 14.7
    Rating: 5/5
    Notes:

This year’s Bourbon County Stout, aged in a mix of Heaven Hill, Buffalo Trace, and Wild Turkey barrels, yields a rich, complex mouthfeel. We’ve bottled Bourbon County Stout for 15 years and this year’s vintage is one that you will want to hold on to for years to come.

  • See! Twitter can be fun sometimes 😅

  • December first.

December first, the last 31 days of this decade. Sounds pretty dramatic. Don’t it? There are a couple of things I feel like I want to focus/work on this month as a prep for 2020.

    Digital minimalism.

I want to cutback on my digital presence and be more present in my real world/life. Cultivate friendship and my real relationships, reach out and be more engaging. Although, I would dare to say that the Micro.blog community sorta falls in the “real relationship” category, unlike twitter and Instagram or any other form of social media, Micro.blog does gives me that sense of real connection.

    Health.

I have made a commitment to myself to be more active and live a healthier life. Right now, it is far from perfect but it isn’t as bad as it used to be. I have made some progress. I have lost a few pounds, getting down from 220 to 195 lbs (currently). I do feel much better about myself. It not only has helped me physically but mentally. So I have plans for myself, I want to continue on this path and be even better!

    Profession.

By the end of the year it’ll be about 4 months since I’ve started my new job. I am still learning the ropes and getting better at it. I want to continue striving for “greatness” I don’t mean it in a pretensions arrogant way, but I aspire to master and be good at what I do. Support my team and the company’s goals and take onto more responsibilities as they become available.

And last but not least, the most important task in my life, my family. I want to be a better provider, be more present and a the best parental figure I can be for my girls. More hugs and more fun! Also be a better husband, even after 11 or do years (I think it’s been 11) I’m still working it.

    IN OTHER NEWS:

Delight yourselves with another first of the month home screen setup screenshot. 😜

  • If you haven’t watched episode 4 of the Mandalorian, disregard. But that scene (SPOILERS!) of the attack to the village and the “farmers”, for whatever reason, it reminded me of tje Samurai 7 anime show.

  • Muting and Blocking.

    Tobias ᴠᴀɴ sᴄʜɴᴇɪᴅᴇʀ:

Muting or blocking someone online isn’t so much about you just disliking the other person. It’s about protecting your sanity and guarding your mental space from input that you can’t control. You wouldn’t hang around toxic people offline, so why would you do it online?

    🛎 (ding)

I personally haven’t blocked anybody in years. I guess I’m not very popular — and I’m fine with that — so this doesn’t affects me.

But I very much agree with this post, it’s all about protecting your sanity in what most people think of Twitter as a toxic environment.

  • Jet Black.

Something I would really like, it’s another Jet Black version of the iPhone. Yes it would scratch more easily, finger prints and all. But man! It was so cool looking. Also I didn’t care for the scratches or anything. Actually as I get older I baby less my phones, maybe the first two weeks. Guess as a habit, since that’s the usual return period, after that I don’t give two peppers! That’s what Apple care plus is for (😜).

Yeah the green iPhone 11 Pro looks swell, but, Jet Black man!

  • As much as I love OmniFocus I believe Todoist integrate(s) better with my workflow.

    • multi-platform support (I work on a windows machine during the day,unfortunately)
    • Outlook integration
    • Natural language

(Maybe I should try OmniFocus for the web again 🙃)

  • Levius.

    Levius

As society rises from the ashes of war, cybernetically augmented arena fighters battle for fame and fortune… or die trying.

It’s the 19th century, and the world has entered the Era of Rebirth, recovering from the devastating flames of war. The sport of mechanical martial arts has galvanized the nations. Cybernetically augmented fighters turn their blood into steam and their bodies into brutal fighting—and killing—machines.

Young Levius is one of those arena battlers, hell-bent on winning in order to simply survive.

I am really enjoying this show. It reminds me a lot of Full Metal Alchemist. They’re both sorta setup in a non-futuristic set and yet they have some Sci-fi technology. The the show has this steampunk vibe and I love it!

  • An Unexpected Thanksgiving.

Since our Thanksgiving plans changed last minute, little one it’s sick, in-law is getting some kind of heart surgery, we didn’t want to risk it him getting sick before surgery. Thus, I feel like I should head out to KFC and get a bucket of chicken 🍗! 😅

(At least I got my fancy stout beer and some whiskey samples)
