  • πŸŽ™ What’s The Point?

    Hello!

    Here is my first Microcast!

I am still trying to figure out exactly what I want to do or where this is going but I figured I needed to just do it. There’s no editing whatsoever on this episode, I am winging this thing out. πŸŽ™πŸ˜œ

  • πŸ™ŒπŸΌ πŸ“Œ Separate Yourself From Your Ideas by Greg Morris

    Separate Yourself From Your Ideas

If others test your ideas and beliefs they are not testing you as a person. It’s perfectly ok to have apposing views and still like the other person β€” in fact some of my closest friends are so close because they give me different ideas and apposing view points. Make your circle as diverse and as interesting as possible and you will be a better person because of it. Separate yourself from your ideas and you will feel much better.

    A hundred percent this!

  • When old becomes new.

Robi-ducking-Draco Rosa! This was probably one of my favorite artists growing up. I’d say end of high school and part of my college years. Somewhere during that time? Anyways, the thing is, he got boring after a while. He stopped putting out interesting new stuff. And now, all he does is recycling old songs and remastering them. He has become the most overrated song writer in Puerto Rico.

Here’s his β€œnew” album Mad Love Luxe (Remastered) by Draco Rosa which is just another remastered version of a previous album. And yet , here I am listening to the whole album as if I’ve never heard of it before.

    I suck! πŸ˜…

    Idaho State Police:

Looks like this bull is causing a bit of a traffic issue in Idaho Falls during the afternoon commute time. Apparently he doesn’t know what it means to “Stay At Home”. @IdahoFallsPD @BonnevilleCSO @ISPHeadquarters @ToddKunzKIDK @EastIDNews pic.twitter.com/Ss8B5fEjRy

I think the bull is just fine. Is the other idiots animals who don’t know what β€œStay At Home” means.

  • Like seagulls.

You how with dogs and I say dogs because I used to know dogs that would do this, or even kids, I remember Marley being like this. When you open a bag of chips and, you’d think, there’s nobody around but as soon as you opened it they come around the corner like mine, mine, mine ! That’s my wife when I open a can of fizzy water, especially right after dinner. Because she knows I’m making vodka sodas. πŸ˜…

(Side note: before posting this I read it to my wife. Her response β€” jerk! πŸ˜…)

  • On Microcasting

For a while, probably months now, I have been having this itch to start a Microcast. I have had different ideas, for example, one was to talk about my day while commuting from work back to my house. Which now thinking about it, that would have been a bad maybe. As far as audio quality possibly? Anyhow, Now with the whole staying at home and working from the home deal I, one, have more time to do such things and two I am alone at home. The wife works at a hospital so she still has to come into work and the little ones go from one controlled environment, our house to another controlled environment, their grandparents. Otherwise, there is no way I could get any work done. Thus, I have a quiet house for myself for a few hours.

Yesterday I was listening to the Microcast Studio show by Jean MacDonald to see if maybe by listening to it I would pick up a few things that would give me some encouragement to start off. Also, Micro.blog is giving, for lack of a better term, free Microcast hosting until the end of April, so it’s a great chance to experiment. Although the few episodes I got to listened to were very encouraging, the one thing that I picked up and stuck in my brain was audio quality. And, this is a little biased because it is something I have been thinking about and my main excuse to not get into the Microcasting wagon. And that is not having a decent or dedicated podcasting microphone. Which is BS too because I have made a few appearances in the past, on three different podcasts, and not having a mic didn’t prevent me from saying “duck it, Imma ducking doet!”.

Still, I went down the rabbit hole, again, on finding different mics, some of them had been recommended to me by some friends only to find out that most of them are currently out of stock or there are very pricey, at least on the Amazons. This also got me thinking. Do I really want or need a dedicated mic for what I need/want to do?

My idea right now is just to, what would normally be a short post of a though or whatever it may be, instead of posting it in text format, do it in audio. Maybe it’ll be a 3 min cast or 10, whatever. Perhaps I don’t need a dedicated mic. Maybe My EarPods are good enough. It is not like I am trying to make a living out of this or a professional thing. But at the same time, I would like to put out something nice or decent. Also it just occurred to me that I’ve got two different kinds of headsets that I use for either gaming or Zoom calls for work. Maybe I should test with those, hm! Yesterday though, I did record a few things just to play around and experiment, using my EarPods. I tested both Wavelength and Ferrite. Ferrite’s audio file seemed to have a little bit better quality over Wavelength ’s and also picked up more extra sounds, like me pacing back and forth around the house. Now, it would be a matter of posting the audio. I am sure that with Wavelength will be just as easy as posting a blog post from the Micro.blog app, not much tinkering from my part. With Ferrite I am not sure hows that going to work per se. I am pretty sure it’s not rocket science but when I am about to learn something I have never done before I rather have as less friction as possible. At least until I figure things out and dare to add more complexity to it.

Alright! That was a lot of rambling!

  • Unbroken.

For the past few months I have been having some minor lower-back pains. For the longest time I have been trying to figure out where that pain was coming from. First I thought it was from Luna’s baby carrier and the way I wasn’t handling it. The baby’s rocking chair or my couch or maybe I did something weird while working out, etc. And possibly, all of the above.

Recently it became a little more clear that it was a lack of stretching of my part. For the past few months I have really kicked of my workouts and not skipping leg day (πŸ˜…). But I hadn’t been stretching before or after my workouts at all, tsk tsk tsk. I should have know better.

About a week ago or so I found some stretching exercises, especially to prevent lower-back issues. Which it either was too late or I did something right that then on Saturday felt worse!

Thing is, today I went to a physical therapist, just to make sure I was still salvageable (πŸ˜…). Well turned out, I was right, all my pains are related with me not stretching out properly. So they got me all unbroken and sent me home with some exercises. I feel way better, still I’ll make a move that will trigger some pain but it’s much much bearable than before mostly when sitting down for too long.

I am going to take a couple of days to work on my stretching and healing before I kick back into my workouts and such.

And then there is Instagram, which I have given up for Lent. I must say, it is quite a relief to not be looking at all those other photos and perfect lives. It is great to not think about where I could be, and instead be grateful for where I am.

But the best part of not being on IG is the absence of influencers and ads selling me substandard shit.
